This is what matters to Bamboo Birdie, these form our values and intentions. Our commitment to sustainable practices that will keep us on track as we build an earth friendly company that does what it can for the planet and people.
Bamboo Birdie items should not end up in landfill. Materials will be kept in use extending the longevity of fabric for as long as possible via the biRRRdie collection. Products are accepted back for Repair, Repurpose or eventual textile Recycling. Scraps and off cuts will be used to repair or produce limited run accessories.
Items will be accepted back in any condition. They will be inspected for repair and resold as part of the biRRRdie collection. If the garment is too damaged it will be repurposed. If the fabric is at end of life it will be sent to a textile recycler for deconstruction and used to form new fibre.
It is said the most sustainable item is the one already hanging in your wardrobe. For infants and toddlers who grow so quickly those items don’t hang for long. biRRRdie will be a collection of repaired, second hand clothing bringing another layer of sustainability and affordability to the eco-friendly clothing market.
Garments will feature a sustainability story, which enables people to make wise choices on the most appropriate items for them. The commitment to transparency and authenticity is paramount and as technologies improve traceability will become easier.
No Seasonal Launches
Seasonal launches date items all too quickly. Bamboo Birdie will challenge the norm and release a couple of new items every two months (except January) and will only take a line out of commission once it has sold out or been donated. This elongates availability and the longevity of the product.
Everything we do has an impact. We don’t know everything. Improvement is a continual journey.
With new research, advances, technologies and materials being developed it is my commitment to keep abreast of new developments that could better the environmental impact of apparel. I will add my voice to the sustainability push and continually look for new solutions so the impact we do have is lessened.
